Job Quality and Well-Being: Evidence from DR Congo

In the context of dualism labor market—informal sector market and formal market—this study assessed impact job quality on worker’s well-being. Using first stage 2012 national survey data 1-2-3, preliminary results revealed that among 1443 employees, 85.44% were working in informal whereas 14.56% sector. Given its multidimensional characteristics, quality was measured by six components such as security, existence union, training, employer’s support, working hours promotion. terms contribution each dimension, the Multiple Component Analysis applied based on finding, we have selected three components with 46%, 39% 15% respectively a contribution to construction index. On other hand, the well-being income two classes— poor employee non-poor employees—were created using monetary threshold according place residence. We estimated afterwards the logit model. Our have effect was significantly positive both cases workers from Informal Sector all irrespectively their formal sector, evidence significant statistically rejected. The main explanation this finding can be imputed job quality level which already high compared informal sector. Furthermore, for workers, result a consequence the dominant on that view above findings, there is need of controlling strengthening an increase security index one unit, probability worker’s well-being increases 0.38.
